RAWALPINDI: All the arrangements have been finalised to observe the second death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto with dignity and simplicity in view of Muharram-ul-Haraam here on Sunday.
The local leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Peoples Students Federation and a large number of PPP workers will arrive at the memorial and the surrounding area to pay homage and offer Fateha for their leader.
Meanwhile, police have finalised a special traffic plan to facilitate the people coming to the memorial.
Prior to the death anniversary, the martyrdom site was hosed down with rose water by the PPP local leaders and workers.
Under the plan, the Liaqat Road will be closed to all types of traffic from the Murree Road turn to the Gawalmandi Chowk.
Parking points have been made near the Gawalmandi bridge and the Rescue 15 for the vehicles of the participants of rallies and processions.
Special squads will be deployed for the implementation of traffic plan in letter and spirit.
Clear routes will be made available for the participants of procession who will visit the memorial.
Citizens have been asked to contact the Traffic Police Helpline 1915 in case of any help and assistance.
Meanwhile, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan said no institution, except parliament, could introduce amendments to the Constitution.
Addressing the PPP workers after visiting the martyrdom site at Liaquat Bagh, he said: We will ensure protection of constitutional rights of institutions.
He said new laws would be introduced to improve relations between the Ministry of Law and the lawyers fraternity.
He said the writ of the government be ensured at each and every inch of the homeland. We will fight the internal and external enemies on all fronts.
He said the people of Balochistan would be made owner of domestic resources of the province, adding that a meeting of the federal cabinet was scheduled to be held in Gwadar on December 30.
Earlier, he was warmly welcomed by local leaders and workers of the PPP on his arrival at Liaquat Bagh.
The workers chanted slogans in favour of Benazir Bhutto, the PPP and its leadership.
Babar laid a wreath at the memorial of Benazir Bhutto and offered Fateha.
PPP leaders Aamir Fida Paracha, Raja Khalid, Azhar Gilani, Asad Abbasi, Sajid Tanoli, Khurram Kiani, Ayaz Pappu and others were also present on the occasion...link
